VASER Liposuction Offers You an Easier Recovery
I provide patients with VASER® liposuction because of its advantages over typical liposuction. Most importantly, typical liposuction procedures can leave your body bruised and swollen, while VASER’s gentler approach means less physical trauma, less pain, and a quicker recovery.
In the typical procedure, a plastic surgeon uses a hollow metal rod called a cannula, which is hooked to a vacuum pump. He passes the cannula through the fat, and the suction from the vacuum tears the fat off, moves it down the cannula, and into the collection cannister.
The problem: it takes a lot of force to push the cannula through the fat. A plastic surgeon may have to hammer away until he’s dislodged the material so he can suction it out. If that’s your body that he’s working on, you’re likely going to feel the impact the next day.
VASER liposuction works differently. In a VASER procedure, we target the fat we want to treat. Then, I make a small incision and pass a fine titanium ultrasound probe through it.
VASER doesn’t require a lot of the force you see in a typical liposuction. Instead, the ultrasound breaks up and liquefies the fat as the probe moves inside. When that’s done, I extract the fat with gentle, atraumatic cannulas.
The advantage of this process is that the ultrasound does the work. The probe glides through the fat smoothly and with little force. That means you experience less pain, bruising, and swelling. Overall, you can expect a much more comfortable recovery from your procedure
