Facelift for Facelifts
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, facelifts made a big comeback in 2007. After falling in popularity for several years, facelift surgeries were up 14% nationwide last year. We’re definitely seeing this trend in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. There are 3 reasons this is happening:
Baby Boomers Are Aging
The entire baby boom population is now somewhere in the facelift age range. This is why most authors think facelifts are on the rise. But there are two other important reasons that have gone unnoticed.
Non-Invasives Are Overrated
I’m referring to things like Botox, Restylane, Juvederm, Thermage, threadlifts – the list is endless. We’ve talked about this several times on our Plastic Surgery Today Radio Show(Saturdays at 3 P.M. CST on KLLI 105.3, Dallas.) Some of these are really good products, some aren’t. But none of them is a substitute for a good facelift.
The bottom line is:
If you need a facelift, you need a facelift. All the non-invasives in the world won’t change that.
I’ve seen many facelift consults who’ve had Juvederm and Radiesse and Thermage and Lifestyle lifts and thread lifts. Because at one time or another, someone had sold them each of these procedures as a minimally-invasive facelift alternative.
But none of these products worked well. Because what was needed was a real facelift. Which brings us back to “if you need a facelift, you need a facelift.”
Don’t get me wrong. I do a lot of Botox and Juvederm. They are terrific products. But only when they’re used for the right reasons. Try to use them to replace a facelift and you waste your money. And end up disappointed.
Facelifts Are Better Than You Thought
Facelifts have gotten a bad rap. Say “facelift” to most people and they picture some aging celebrity with strange-looking, pulled-tight face. Everyone has an example of a bad facelift. Few people have a clear image of a good one.
But those great facelifts are out there. They’re walking around all over Dallas. You just don’t see them because they don’t attract attention to themselves.
Men and women with great facelifts don’t look tight or fake or weird. They just look good.
Facelift techniques are much better than they used to be. I now use methods that lift the face from the inside out. These methods lift it upward. They don’t pull it backward. Here’s an example of one of these natural facelifts. More facelift photos.
Facelifts work. A well done, modern facelift makes you look younger and better. That’s why it’s a procedure on the rise.
