About Arm Lift Surgery
One of the most challenging things about losing weight or getting older is the development of loose skin. At Robert Schwartz Plastic Surgery, we offer arm lift surgery (brachioplasty) as a treatment for patients who cannot seem to tighten and tone this area of the arm with diet and exercise. Lax skin from the elbow to the upper arm is very common, especially for men and women who have lost weight or are advancing in age. Dr. Robert Schwartz, a Dallas, TX plastic surgeon, is very experienced in skin tightening and fat removal methods, and he offers private consultations for arm lifts. If you would like to learn more about how brachioplasty can enhance the physique of your arms, please call and schedule a consultation at Robert Schwartz Plastic Surgery in Dallas, TX today.
An arm lift is a cosmetic surgery that features innovative techniques to slim the arm and excise excess skin to tone the lax appearance. If you are self-conscious about your flabby arms and want them to look taut and trim again, you are a good candidate for this procedure. You should be in great overall health so your body can heal well. Some of the most common issues for an arm lift are excess and loose skin on the upper arms, and lost elasticity of the skin. It is also important that you be at your ideal weight prior to surgery.

"Effective Communication Lead to Exceptional Results. - When a physician couples skill with the ability to build rappor it leads to exceptional results. I received Dr. Schwartz’s name from a dear friend who had the same procedure but I did not remember his name when I began my search for a plastic surgeon one year later. Only after the surgery did we discover it must have made an impression!Dr. Schwartz was the 3rd surgeon I visited for a c..."- L. / RealSelf / Sep 12, 2018
"Dr. Schwartz is a very skilled surgeon who always puts your wants and concerns first. Him and his team make up a very comforting environment when you visit their office. They always greet me by name and ask how I have been. They make sure all my questions are answered with as much information as they can give me. Even when I had a concern right before surgery, the doctor sat down and went over photos with me again to make sure he had the best understanding as to what I was looking for. He made it happen and my results are amazing. I couldn't have asked for a better surgeon. I highly recommend this doctor."- P. / Google / Aug 30, 2018
"Wearing a Dress After 2 Weeks Post Op - My experience was awesome. I went in for a tummy tuck and liposuction, just to boost my ongoing weight loss. But, the results I got were more than I could imagine. I haven't worn a dress in 8 years, since having my daughter. I still looked pregnant after all these years. But, after two weeks, post op, I went to my follow up appointment in a dress, with elastic at the waist. Even though,..."- C. / RealSelf / Aug 26, 2018
Most likely, your arm lift surgery will take place in an outpatient setting unless multiple plastic surgeries are being performed at the same time. An arm lift can be combined with other procedures (which is then performed in an inpatient setting for monitoring) such as tummy tucks, mommy makeovers, and thigh lifts — if Dr. Schwartz decides it is safe. An arm lift is usually performed under general anesthesia and may take several hours to complete. The excess skin will be excised from the elbow all the way up to the underarm. The incision will be made as inconspicuously as possible, but will most likely leave a visible scar. If liposuction is needed to remove stubborn fatty deposits, this will be performed as well. Once the skin is tightened, it will be sutured back into place. You will need to keep the incisions clean, bandaged, and wrapped with compression garments.
What to Expect
Your recovery period should last about two weeks with keeping the arm elevated as often as possible, and allowing yourself time to heal. You use your arms for many things, so Dr. Schwartz's brachioplasty patients ease their way back into their normal routines. A suture removal appointment will be set approximately ten days after surgery. Compression garments should be worn until you are released by Dr. Schwartz. For at least a month (4 – 5 weeks), all exercise should be avoided with the exception of taking short walks. If you develop excessive swelling, uncontrolled bleeding, hematoma (fluid buildup), infection, loss of feeling in the arms or hands, or heavy scarring, please call Robert Schwartz Plastic Surgery for assistance.
