About Arm Lift Surgery
One of the most challenging things about losing weight or getting older is the development of loose skin. At Robert Schwartz Plastic Surgery, we offer arm lift surgery (brachioplasty) as a treatment for patients who cannot seem to tighten and tone this area of the arm with diet and exercise. Lax skin from the elbow to the upper arm is very common, especially for men and women who have lost weight or are advancing in age. Dr. Robert Schwartz, a Dallas, TX plastic surgeon, is very experienced in skin tightening and fat removal methods, and he offers private consultations for arm lifts. If you would like to learn more about how brachioplasty can enhance the physique of your arms, please call and schedule a consultation at Robert Schwartz Plastic Surgery in Dallas, TX today.
An arm lift is a cosmetic surgery that features innovative techniques to slim the arm and excise excess skin to tone the lax appearance. If you are self-conscious about your flabby arms and want them to look taut and trim again, you are a good candidate for this procedure. You should be in great overall health so your body can heal well. Some of the most common issues for an arm lift are excess and loose skin on the upper arms, and lost elasticity of the skin. It is also important that you be at your ideal weight prior to surgery.
"It's been a year since my surgery with Dr. Schwartz. The results are fabulous, and I love how my body looks! For the initial months, I had some hiccups with healing due to my own fault, but the Doc and staff took great care of me and seamlessly got me where I am today. I would highly recommend Dr. Schwartz for any cosmetic surgery/procedure! He makes your wishes come to fruition, with a natural touch. I am a 42-year-old mother of two young kids who has never felt more confident about my body! I can honestly say that I look better now than I did a decade ago! :)"- H.P. / Google / May 15, 2019

Most likely, your arm lift surgery will take place in an outpatient setting unless multiple plastic surgeries are being performed at the same time. An arm lift can be combined with other procedures (which is then performed in an inpatient setting for monitoring) such as tummy tucks, mommy makeovers, and thigh lifts — if Dr. Schwartz decides it is safe. An arm lift is usually performed under general anesthesia and may take several hours to complete. The excess skin will be excised from the elbow all the way up to the underarm. The incision will be made as inconspicuously as possible, but will most likely leave a visible scar. If liposuction is needed to remove stubborn fatty deposits, this will be performed as well. Once the skin is tightened, it will be sutured back into place. You will need to keep the incisions clean, bandaged, and wrapped with compression garments.
What to Expect
Your recovery period should last about two weeks with keeping the arm elevated as often as possible, and allowing yourself time to heal. You use your arms for many things, so Dr. Schwartz's brachioplasty patients ease their way back into their normal routines. A suture removal appointment will be set approximately ten days after surgery. Compression garments should be worn until you are released by Dr. Schwartz. For at least a month (4 – 5 weeks), all exercise should be avoided with the exception of taking short walks. If you develop excessive swelling, uncontrolled bleeding, hematoma (fluid buildup), infection, loss of feeling in the arms or hands, or heavy scarring, please call Robert Schwartz Plastic Surgery for assistance.
