About Arm Lift Surgery
One of the most challenging things about losing weight or getting older is the development of loose skin. At Robert Schwartz Plastic Surgery, we offer arm lift surgery (brachioplasty) as a treatment for patients who cannot seem to tighten and tone this area of the arm with diet and exercise. Lax skin from the elbow to the upper arm is very common, especially for men and women who have lost weight or are advancing in age. Dr. Robert Schwartz, a Dallas, TX plastic surgeon, is very experienced in skin tightening and fat removal methods, and he offers private consultations for arm lifts. If you would like to learn more about how brachioplasty can enhance the physique of your arms, please call and schedule a consultation at Robert Schwartz Plastic Surgery in Dallas, TX today.
An arm lift is a cosmetic surgery that features innovative techniques to slim the arm and excise excess skin to tone the lax appearance. If you are self-conscious about your flabby arms and want them to look taut and trim again, you are a good candidate for this procedure. You should be in great overall health so your body can heal well. Some of the most common issues for an arm lift are excess and loose skin on the upper arms, and lost elasticity of the skin. It is also important that you be at your ideal weight prior to surgery.
"I had the best experience working with Dr. Schwartz and his beautiful staff! I went in for my second breast augmentation to have my saline implants of 13 years removed and replaced with silicone. Upon meeting Dr. Schwartz, I knew immediately my search was over. He walked me through everything in detail, Listened to every question I had and truly wanted me to have the best experience and what I wanted within reason. From the moment I set foot in his surgery center the day of my surgery, I was greeted with smiles and I felt so comfortable, the nurses, Dr. Chang his anesthesiologist, PCD Laura, all of them, I knew I was in good hands! They look amazing now and I love them! Thank you Dr. Schwartz!"- Anonymous / RealSelf / Jul 03, 2019

"10 STARS at least. This doctor is absolutely amazing. Dallas is lucky to have a doctor of this caliber in the area. We spent months researching and speaking with several doctors in the area. My wife was extremely specific in exactly what she wanted. Dr. Schwartz and the staff spoke and met with her several times to ensure that she got the exact results that she expected. My wife was specifically detailed in her expectations and he has EXCEEDED them. The results are picture perfect and she feels FANTABULOUS.I put in a ton of research on this process. I read, reviewed, and watched it seems like a million articles or videos on day to day post op expectations. There are so many stories of girls having issues and pains during the first 7 days post op. I tell you from day one my wife had ZERO PAIN!.......I will say that again ZERO PAIN. We stuck to the medications down to the second and her recovery was pain free....THIS MAN/DOCTOR IS AN ABSOLUTE ROCKSTAR!!!!!!!!"- S.B. / Google / Feb 14, 2020
"I came to Dr Schwartz a very anxious and shy person and from my first consult to my 6 month post-op check in, I have never felt so comfortable and confident under any other medical professional. I’m short and shaped a little oddly, and expressed concern with having the volume I wanted without looking like a caricature. Dr Schwartz took my “dream boobies” photos and translated them to suit my body better than I could have anticipated. I look so much more balanced and proportional without a bra on, and I have never felt so confident in my own skin and motivated to take care of my body. I feel like my true self and I am still in absolute love with my new breasts. The entire staff is really friendly and easy to talk to, the drive to surgery was more stressful than the actual procedure because they took such excellent care of me. I fit in my clothes so much better, I walk with more confidence at work, and my boyfriend has noticed improvements in my posture and the frequency in which I smile in the mirror. Thank you so much for blessing my life with newfound confidence and pride in my body. I never thought I’d feel this good about my body but I’m so glad I researched, found an incredible board certified surgeon and took the plunge. I wouldn’t change a thing about my experience."- P.K. / Google / Feb 13, 2020

Most likely, your arm lift surgery will take place in an outpatient setting unless multiple plastic surgeries are being performed at the same time. An arm lift can be combined with other procedures (which is then performed in an inpatient setting for monitoring) such as tummy tucks, mommy makeovers, and thigh lifts — if Dr. Schwartz decides it is safe. An arm lift is usually performed under general anesthesia and may take several hours to complete. The excess skin will be excised from the elbow all the way up to the underarm. The incision will be made as inconspicuously as possible, but will most likely leave a visible scar. If liposuction is needed to remove stubborn fatty deposits, this will be performed as well. Once the skin is tightened, it will be sutured back into place. You will need to keep the incisions clean, bandaged, and wrapped with compression garments.
What to Expect
Your recovery period should last about two weeks with keeping the arm elevated as often as possible, and allowing yourself time to heal. You use your arms for many things, so Dr. Schwartz's brachioplasty patients ease their way back into their normal routines. A suture removal appointment will be set approximately ten days after surgery. Compression garments should be worn until you are released by Dr. Schwartz. For at least a month (4 – 5 weeks), all exercise should be avoided with the exception of taking short walks. If you develop excessive swelling, uncontrolled bleeding, hematoma (fluid buildup), infection, loss of feeling in the arms or hands, or heavy scarring, please call Robert Schwartz Plastic Surgery for assistance.
