FAQ

Consultation

I have read and agree to the FAQ terms of use.
Do you offer virtual consultations?

We've been offering virtual consultations since before COVID-19 made it super fashionable. The virtual consult can easily provide most patients with enough information to decide if they are interested in surgery and if we’re the right practice for them. So if an online consultation makes more sense for you and your schedule, let us know.

Where will my surgery be done?

We have a fully equipped, private operating room in our facility. This allows us to control your surgical experience and care from beginning to end. We can provide, general, twilight, or local anesthesia.

Dr. Schwartz also has privileges at THR Dallas Hospital. We offer that as an alternative to patients who prefer a hospital environment or who will require an overnight hospital stay. The hospital is less than one mile from our office.

What do you specialize in?

We are known for meticulously planned and executed cosmetic surgeries. This means breasts that are carefully tailored to your goals in size and in shape. It means facelifts that look like you - not like facelifts. Tummy tucks that restore a flat, natural abdomen and use hidden scars. Our goal is to make you proud of a part of your body that, right now, makes you self-conscious.

Our procedures include mommy makeovers, breast augmentation and breast implant revision, facelifts, tummy tucks and liposuction, a full range of fillers and Botox and about 40 other services.

Can I bring someone with me to my consultation?

Feel free to bring your spouse, significant other, family member, or friend to your consultation. Because of COVID-19, we ask that you only bring one guest to your consultation. If you’d like to involve more people, they are welcome to join by Facetime. We can also do Zoom consultations with multiple people.

What will happen at my consultation?

As we mentioned above, each consultation is 1 hour long. That's about 100 Tik-Tok videos. So we can accomplish a lot.

To start, we’ll double-check your medical history. Most of our patients are healthy but occasionally there are medical issues that we will need to address prior to your surgery.

One of our cosmetic surgery coordinators will review your goals with you and we'll take preoperative photos. The photos will serve as a record of your starting point but, more importantly, we will use them in your consultation to explain your surgery plan and your likely results. Most patients find this informative and helpful.

Dr. Schwartz will review your goals with you. Often, we will ask you to provide photos of what you want to look like and Dr. Schwartz will discuss these with you in detail.  This step is especially important in breast augmentation but applies to other surgeries as well. The objective here is to develop a shared and crystal clear target of what you want to achieve with your surgery.

If it sounds like we've mostly been listening at this point, you're right. The consultation is mostly about us learning about you and what you want.

Dr. Schwartz will then examine you and take any relevant measurements.  Now, we know exactly what your starting point is and, from our previous discussion, where you want to end up. With this knowledge, it's straightforward to map out a surgical plan to take you from point A to point B. Dr. Schwartz will explain this plan thoroughly and will sketch it on your actual photos.

Based on your surgical plan, will give you an exact quote for the surgery. This will include the surgeon’s fees, anesthesia (we use a board-certified anesthesiologist) , operating room charges, implants, and supplies. The only items not included are any preoperative testing needed and post-operative prescriptions. If you'd like to schedule surgery, we will find you a date that fits your schedule.

What is your consultation cancellation policy?

If you cancel your 48 hours or more in advance, we will refund the $50 fee. Also, there is no additional charge for rescheduling your appointment so long as you do so at least 48 hours before the appointment. There are no refunds for appointments canceled or rescheduled less than 48 hours in advance.

Why do you charge for a consultation?

Some people don't show up for appointments - sad but true. If you miss your appointment at the DMV, the DMV doesn't care. But for us, it's kind of a big deal because we schedule a full hour for each new patient. That's a sizable chunk of the day gone if someone no-shows.

Of course, this problem is not unique to our practice. And yes, some plastic surgery practices do offer free consultations. But, as you know, nothing in life is really free.  Well, good vibes are free. But good vibes don’t know how to do surgery. So if someone is offering you a free consultation two things are very likely:

  1. The consultation is not going to be an hour long and that means that important details may be left out.
  2. You are probably being double-booked to compensate for a high percentage of no-shows.

We never double-book our consultations because, sometimes, both people show up. And if that happens, you end up waiting. A long time. So that cliche about waiting forever in a doctor's waiting room, that doesn't happen with us.

We're pretty convinced that the $50 is a great value - especially if you value your time. But if you don't think so after the consultation, we will refund it,  no questions asked.

Do you charge for a consultation?

We charge $50 for a consultation. The $50 can be applied to any surgery you schedule.

Where do I park?

We have free indoor parking (lots of it). You can drive up to the third level and enter the building right by our office. Full disclosure: the parking lot does have a ridiculous number of speed bumps. They’re annoying. Trust us, we know.
