About Arm Lift Surgery
One of the most challenging things about losing weight or getting older is the development of loose skin. At Robert Schwartz Plastic Surgery, we offer arm lift surgery (brachioplasty) as a treatment for patients who cannot seem to tighten and tone this area of the arm with diet and exercise. Lax skin from the elbow to the upper arm is very common, especially for men and women who have lost weight or are advancing in age. Dr. Robert Schwartz, a Dallas, TX plastic surgeon, is very experienced in skin tightening and fat removal methods, and he offers private consultations for arm lifts. If you would like to learn more about how brachioplasty can enhance the physique of your arms, please call and schedule a consultation at Robert Schwartz Plastic Surgery in Dallas, TX today.
An arm lift is a cosmetic surgery that features innovative techniques to slim the arm and excise excess skin to tone the lax appearance. If you are self-conscious about your flabby arms and want them to look taut and trim again, you are a good candidate for this procedure. You should be in great overall health so your body can heal well. Some of the most common issues for an arm lift are excess and loose skin on the upper arms, and lost elasticity of the skin. It is also important that you be at your ideal weight prior to surgery.
"I had the best experience working with Dr. Schwartz and his beautiful staff! I went in for my second breast augmentation to have my saline implants of 13 years removed and replaced with silicone. Upon meeting Dr. Schwartz, I knew immediately my search was over. He walked me through everything in detail, Listened to every question I had and truly wanted me to have the best experience and what I wanted within reason. From the moment I set foot in his surgery center the day of my surgery, I was greeted with smiles and I felt so comfortable, the nurses, Dr. Chang his anesthesiologist, PCD Laura, all of them, I knew I was in good hands! They look amazing now and I love them! Thank you Dr. Schwartz!"- Anonymous / RealSelf / Jul 03, 2019
"Cristy is the best!!!! I’ve followed her from other offices as she is the only one who does my filler the way i want it. Id previously only done my lips and botox, but this past visit I also did Restylane under my eyes and Voluma in my cheeks! I LOVE IT SO MUCH. It’s made me a lot more confident in myself, and Cristy is such a perfectionist she makes sure it’s exactly what you want. I’ll never go anywhere else!!!"- L.M. / Google / Jan 03, 2020

Most likely, your arm lift surgery will take place in an outpatient setting unless multiple plastic surgeries are being performed at the same time. An arm lift can be combined with other procedures (which is then performed in an inpatient setting for monitoring) such as tummy tucks, mommy makeovers, and thigh lifts — if Dr. Schwartz decides it is safe. An arm lift is usually performed under general anesthesia and may take several hours to complete. The excess skin will be excised from the elbow all the way up to the underarm. The incision will be made as inconspicuously as possible, but will most likely leave a visible scar. If liposuction is needed to remove stubborn fatty deposits, this will be performed as well. Once the skin is tightened, it will be sutured back into place. You will need to keep the incisions clean, bandaged, and wrapped with compression garments.
What to Expect
Your recovery period should last about two weeks with keeping the arm elevated as often as possible, and allowing yourself time to heal. You use your arms for many things, so Dr. Schwartz's brachioplasty patients ease their way back into their normal routines. A suture removal appointment will be set approximately ten days after surgery. Compression garments should be worn until you are released by Dr. Schwartz. For at least a month (4 – 5 weeks), all exercise should be avoided with the exception of taking short walks. If you develop excessive swelling, uncontrolled bleeding, hematoma (fluid buildup), infection, loss of feeling in the arms or hands, or heavy scarring, please call Robert Schwartz Plastic Surgery for assistance.
