What Is A Partial Abdominoplasty / Mini Tummy Tuck?

The goal of a mini tummy tuck is the same as a regular tummy tuck: to reshape the contour of your abdomen. However, a mini tummy tuck has a more limited focus than a full abdominoplasty. A regular tummy tuck procedure makes two basic changes:

  1. It gets rid of excess skin and fat from the abdomen.
  2. It tightens the muscles of the abdominal wall.

Most of the Dallas abdominoplasty patients that I see require both of these changes.  As a result, their surgery usually leaves a scar that runs from one side of their abdomen to the other. This is a result of removing the excess skin. However, a mini tummy tuck only tightens the muscles of the abdominal wall. The incision can be much shorter because we aren't removing skin, and the scar will only be about the length of a C-section scar.

The mini tummy tuck is only right for a few Dallas patients. Typically, these patients have a "pot belly" tummy they want to flatten by tightening their abdominal muscles, and they don't have much excess skin and fat. The best way to find out if you are a good candidate is to consider these factors. Then, get in touch with our practice and discuss your options.
